I have a dedicated 12v circuit that feeds the fridge in the bed. The circuit is wired to the aux battery. But even if I didn't have that I'd still use +12v from the starter battery. The ARB fridge (all i know about) has an adjustable low voltage cut off switch, so it won't leave me stranded if I did run it from starter battery.

I'm using ARB dedicated 12v to the bed. The AC in the bed is weak sauce and fishing a 12v cigarette to the bed from the cab is a no go. As Crom states ARB has low voltage cutoff to assist. When stopped I have an Arkpak with group31 diehard and 100 w solar. So good for dayzzzz.
The arb kit isn't expensive and comes with quality wire. Do that and skip the other -quick options .

Strain relief. The cubby is silicone sealed and waterproof to date.
The wiring is connected to SkyGear's box and fused just before the battery.

As far as I know that ARB socket wiring extension thing is universal, but I'd want to be 100% sure before buying it. I'd also compare the cost of that thing vs. buying a fuse and some good 10 gauge stranded copper wire stick it in some 1/4" split wire loom and run it along the frame into the bed and wire yourself a socket. In my setup I cut off all the sockets and use Anderson Power poles for connecting things. Whatever you do apply some vinyl tape to keep things connected while on the trail.

Here is a pic of the ARB cord. It's designed with center groove to fit firmly in the female end.
In tandem with Crom , I'm using ALL Anderson powerpole connections. I spliced into the ARB wire with Anderson power poles. I can use the 12v connection you see, 12v cigarette and I have a separate 50a Anderson powerpole for the Arkpak. All solid connections and hand built. All fused for safety.

There is a great thread on the whynters/ engels. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/47802-Edgestar-Fridge-Modifications-Thread

In my bed, one of the pieces of the 120v outlet was cracked. I removed the lower right bolt and drilled out a hole big enough for one of the BLUE SEA 12v outlets. Stuck it in the place of the bolt. Secured it and ran power to it. Been running the fridge/ freezer in the 85 flavor for years now. I'lll snap a pic and post up later.

Took the fridge out a week or so ago since the frame replacement. I want to redo all of the wiring now. Making ONE harness to accommodate all of my accessories from front to back.

ramon. Check out the thread I posted, lots of resources there to get them on the cheap. Just need to be diligent. Also, use http://www.searchtempest.com HomeDepot has some great sales and closeouts too. Been eying the 62 dual for some time now. Finding that I need the fridge AND freezer zones. Trips are getting longer and we are learning our gear and limitations finally.

Whatever you do, if you spend more than $25 you're overpaying.

I placed the socket in my driver's side cubby, just below my diff breather mod. FWIW, I plugged my ARB 50 qt into it and let it sit for 24 hours in my garage (granted, not out in the heat) and the draw on the battery was about 0.2v.

i.e. this thread, OBA thread, Dual Battery Thread. I'm sure there's others

Hey guys, now that skygear (original OP) got the ban hammer, the mods put me in charge of this useful thread. When I get time, I'll go through the thread and get the OP updated

Does anyone have any suggestions for securing a platform in the back seat area of an access cab? I'm planning on making a platform out of King Starboard to mount my fridge to and some other assorted items but I'm not too sure what kind of hardware to use to actually secure it.
