So I'm planning to take a drive and do some truck camping through northern Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan this weekend. I was just going to "wing it," but thought I'd ask for suggestions here.

The only place I've been to in the UP is the Porcupine Mountains in the Ottawa National Forest.... which is amazing; and will likely be my starting point.

I'll be starting from the Chicago area, and will likely drive north through Wisconsin and start off at the Porcupine Mountains; love that drive through the Northwoods.

After spending a night, and doing some hiking, I guess i'll head east through the UP and hit up some of the UP Michigan state forests, and the Hiawatha National Forest, spend another night, and then head south through Michigan, along the east coast of Lake Michigan, and probably check out Sleeping Bear Dunes, as I haven't yet been there.

Likely will be a bit more crowded as its Labor day weekend. But should be a fun trip for the dogs and I. Although, 3 days doesn't seem long enough, hah.

Any suggestions on routes through the UP? Places to definitely see? Anywhere to Offroad(bearing in mind I'm still stock TRD OR)?

    Thanks!

Because threads are boring without pictures; here's last year at the Porcupine Mountains (no Tacoma at the time) :

Mt Avron(E of L'anse), Kich-iti-kipi/Palms Book State Park(NW of Manistique), Fayette State Park on the Garden Peninsula, Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore between Munising & Grand Marias, Crisp Point Lighthouse, Taquamenon Falls between Newberry & Paradise, The Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point(N of Paradise), Soo Locks.

I could think of a bunch more but it'd take you more than 3 days. I'd recommend Pictured Rocks then into GM, take H-58 East to Deer Park, stop at Pine Stump Junction for a pizza(say HI to Marissa) then take the seasonal roads/2-tracks to Crisp Point Lighthouse then take CR500 S to Taqu Falls, after that maybe take 123 S out of Paradise to Lake Superior Shoreline Drive into the Soo and check out the Locks......again, the options are endless. Have a great trip.
