A stock Silverado would probably tow better, just saying... Lol.

Also my diesel is fucking awesome for towing. Love to DD it too. But, I don't like that $125 oil change that comes with it. Guess beggars can't be choosers. At least diesel is cheaper than gasoline now :D

Haha you right but who wants to ride stock? I only put 9k miles on my truck in the year that I've had it and that's including multiple out of state wheeling trips and a few trips to the beach so my oil changes wont be that frequent. But as you said with diesel coming down in price and holding their value and lasting longer in general it's a no brainer. Will probably be the last truck I ever buy.

I hate to be that guy, but I don't think you will get much better milage with the diesel. I get 10 with an LBZ Dmax towing my Tacoma at 70-72.

The ability to just set the cruise and have it not even think of down shifting is pretty fantastic though.

That's still optimistic.. Maybe with a stick, hot tune and a tail wind. The towed vehicle just becomes a huge sail no matter what you do at highway speed.

It's a plow truck in the winter so that rules out a Dodge. The auto is crap and plowing with a manual sucks.

Yeah I'm not expecting a ton better mileage but thats not really the goal. That being said my dad still gets 13 pulling his 15,000# fifth wheel and ~21with the economy tune in a 6.0 f250

I'm not a dodge fan. Don't like the body style or the interior so that's a deal breaker.

    You say that but....

GM ifs actually does normal truck duties very well. No you can't lift it to the sky, or do boosted 4wd launches but it will take a plow easily and does not wander on the road. Parts wear is about on par with the one ton solid axle offerings IMO

There are some other things GM does very poorly. IE interiors, power steering, and body rust prevention

    Ditto
I know a guy who tows with a 3500 ram with the 5.9 and 6spd, great fuel mileage.
We towed a ~10K lb portable mill from east Texas to San Diego for him and the best we got was 9MPG in a 2005 f250 with the 6.0 and auto trans, he picked it up in San Diego and took it to Visalia area and he averaged 16MPG with his truck.
