    Good for you!

Now wait another 6 months and save another $2k or more. Between these economy hiccups and Toyota losing market share (big time) last quarter, I'm guessing 'last call' for ordering 16s (Feb, Mar?) will find much more cooperation on the seller side.

Instead of brews for me, I'll point your donations to my favorite charity.

I'm adding almost $3k invoice/$4K MSRP of stuff so the base price isnt really that far off from what they are selling the 15s for now at discounts. Agree on the economy though. If the credit markets freeze up the cash buyers are going to be ones in a position of power.

I would think cash buyers are always in a position of power. Credit buyers requires time consuming document processing and preparation. Also being a cash buyer with no trade in is even better.

Paying cash w no trade in bizzaro world (reality) puts you in a losing proposition as they won't make any money on you in the financing and they can't rip you off by undervaluing your trade.

doesn't really matter in the end if you know what you're doing... of course they do love to finance you, yet another area they can make money off of you.

Do what I did with my 2013.

    Finance it.

When the first monthly statement gets to you, pay it off in full.

They still have to sell that vechicle to get it off of the lot. They may not make as much money off of a all cash buyer no trade as opposed to a credit buyer, but that vechicle still has to be sold. Remember, they are paying insurance every month on their inventory. The more inventory they have the more insurance will cost them. Also, car makers are not going to allocate them any additional vechicles until they sell the ones they already have in inventory. So you see the dealership has incentive to sell as many vechicles as he can. Here is where many dealers make out. Some people are very ignorant when it comes to buying cars/trucks. For example, let's say person A comes to a dealership looking to buy a Tacoma 2016 truck. Person A looks at the price tag on the window and tells the dealer I want this truck. Person A buys the truck at the price tag on the window. You and I know that the price tag on the window for this truck is way over priced. Person A maybe ignorant or just has shit loads of money to spend. OK deal is done Person A is happy and of course the dealer is happy as well. He has made a boat load of money off that deal.

On the very next day, Person B walks the dealers lot and he sees a 2016 Tacoma basically the same on Person A purchased yesterday just in a different color. Person B plans to pay in cash with no trade in. He is considered a well edcuated buyer and has done his research. He notices that this vechicle is priced 4000.00 more than what his research has shown. Here is where it gets interested, both Person B and the dealer sit down to negotiate. After a few hours back and fourth they come to an agreement and the dealer drops the price by 2200.00 At this point, Person B has to decide well have I got him to come down engough. Should I go ahead and pull the plug? or do I just say hey I need to think about this a little more. Remember this guy has all cash and no trade. Do you think the dealer is going to let him walk away? Keep in mind, the dealer made his money and some from Person A yesterday so if he sells to Person B and only makes 500.00 off the whole deal then he is still ahead of the game. By selling to Person B the dealer has also removed another vechicle from his lot.

The whole point to this is dealers make their money in many different ways. Just as you mentioned above with a credit buyer a dealer will make money off of the financing. Therefore, I really dont understand when you say because I am a all cash buyer puts me in a losing proposition. I feel it is more the other way around it provides me with a winning stragety for purchasing my truck.

GOOD for you man...There are dealers who are selling at Invoice. Not to many will let an Invoice deal walk out the door. There is a lot of money made on Invoice 1995 Toyota had a 15% Margin between Invoice and MSRP Today its 6%....They are making the same but much of it hidden on the back end. Bonuses, Holdback, Doc Fees. All profit.

I am buying AT Invoice plus $500 and will be happy with that. No port added mop and glo. Just tow package and FP. Just have to decide which truck in white.

OP I would walk on the deal. I tried to do a deal on the new facelifted 2014 4 Runner Trail Premium before they hit the lots - in bound actually. Dealer would only give my $500 off MSRP. I told him I wanted $5k off MSRP. He wouldn't budge because he said it would sell at MSRP no problem. I said no way and walked. 1 month later the salesman wouldn't quit calling me - begging me to come in to do a deal. They didn't sell like the dealer thought and they were knocking considerable amounts off of MSRP.

Walk and you'll save another $2k.

I know the tacomas will be popular for a little while, but after the initial craze is over i wonder if people will balk at these prices a little bit forcing them to come down some. I really like the truck and can handle a little bit of a premium, but the prices are a little too rich for my blood atm. I hope in 8-10 months these dealers are ready to deal.

I would bet that the prices will come down before that. Once Toyota has flooded the lots with the new 2016's you're going to see the prices come down. I think it's just in the initial ramp up of getting the new design on the lots that the dealer will get the opportunity to price gouge so hard. I don't think the majority of people are willing to pay that much, that's a substantial amount of money the stealerships are trying to extort.

I agree with people who are saying "just walk" for time, but then again, you could wait forever and get an incredible deal, too...but then you'd always be waiting. It's the same thing with computers and getting the latest and greatest or waiting for the new model to come out and purchasing the outgoing one at that time. It just depends on what is most important to you.

Me, I need the truck before winter comes, and I also want it with my specs, so I am willing to be ok with ~$900 off MSRP with a few free extras tossed in versus the other "no less than MSRP" crap that I was getting from others in the area. Just depends on what you are willing to do, and what's most important.

If you finance the car, the dealership still gets a full check for the price of the vehicle. Toyota Financial Services is the one that floats your loan, not the dealership. As far as the dealer is concerned, they are still getting a full check.

The winning strategy is to not show your cards. If you can pay cash, don't tell the dealership. Act like you haven't decided yet. They might offer a lower price for you to use the OEM financing and, like mentioned above, you can usually pay off the loan early without penalty. Be really wishy washy, non-committal about what you are going to do for financing. Make them play their cards. Swinging in there with an "I got cash, I'm the boss here" attitude is of no advantage, IMO. Even a cash buy puts you back in the finance office where they will try to sell extended warranties, window engraving, etc. You do have to sign the paperwork, pay for the car, and get your tags and such set up.
