Ah so thats how real Chief Engineer looks like and talks like.

Also that is crazy how much thought process went into that engine, and how long they been working on it, what they were building them for ?
Super quiet V8 Diesel, sounds like a Navy Seal project :notsure:
Something to carry people at night for long distance (great mileage because of diesel) and have plenty Torque for weight.
Its just strange to see so much R&D going into simple car engine.

Since Toyota cut R&D GoPro mount was the best that Toyota engineers could come up for new vehicle. Everything else is just reused from other vehicles.
I am going to laugh very hard if (when) there is a recall on GoPro mount.

Agreed. It will be found that the mount will puncture the airbag when deployed or if the gopro is attached will decapitate the passenger.

That is most likely scenario, long term usage of camera will screw up glue eventually, crap will fall off during accident and like a bullet kill people inside.
Toyota solution, remove the go pro mount (or shave off so its unusable) :)

LOL I had a 2004 Ram 1500 gasser for 3 years (bought it new).... Check engine light came on and I swear I was in the shop like 6 times before they found a lose wire deep inside the dash (tore the whole dash apart to find it).

I traded it to get the Tacoma.

I found out later.... The new owner of the Dodge was in an accident and the airbags never went off. Totalled the truck (it was only 4 years old) - the guy was OK. My husband swears the dealership F'd up something in the dash that prevented the airbags from going off. That could've been me.....

My 2010 Tacoma - things I've had to fix on warranty. 1. Rear bumper rust 2. Blower motor 3. Windshield humming 4. Water pump 4. Power window motor.

I've got 60000 highway kms on it and don't use it hard in any sense of the word.

While everything else in the truck is solid (though I do worry about the rust appearing on the frame) I can't say I agree with what everyone says is legendary quality.

This is my first Toyota. I've owned Nissans and Hondas before with zero problems ( drove them around 4-8 years each) aside from routine maintenance and the seats showing excessive wear on the Honda and a squak on the Nissan

Maybe my Toyota is a dud.

Maybe it is a dud. I've owned my 2006 from 138k to now 191k miles and outside of regular maintenance, not a single thing has gone wrong with it.
I think you find waaaayyyyy more stories like mine than stories of poor reliability when it comes to tacomas
