@SilverGhost a 3.4 swap would probably be cheaper than a built lce engine. Either would be awesome

 

4 door 5 speed are rare, unique and beautiful beastly I'm 1 of those lol for her

 

Picked up this old metal trunk (freebie) from my F.I.L. estate sale. I'm gonna spray bedliner inside, add some weatherstripping to the edges and clear coat the hell out of it. Bolt it to the truck bed. I love the beat-up zombie apocalypse look.

 

Yeah I was looking around last night and found this http://www.yotashop.com/toyota-3-4l-5vz-plug-and-play-engine-swap/ I think this is the way to go. I'll give them a call this coming week.

 

I looked at them when my 2.7L shat the bed. All of their reviews say that their engine swaps and built engines are okay, but they offer very little customer service or actual mechanical service after they finish and have your money. They do all warranty and tune-up work begrudgingly, but their engines and swap components do seem to be of good quality. I decided to have my engine brought back to life by a local shop that everyone raves about instead. Perhaps it is worth it to find a local shop that does swaps and then think about the buying the engine from YotaShop.

So just something to keep in mind if you aren't mechanically inclined they may not be much help down the road. It seems like the wheeling community is pretty close knit and if a place was good we would rave about it, not have mixed reviews.

 

Ok, My main concern is if they do in fact sell full sets to do a swap and that they are reliable. As to the swap it's self I've never done one on a toyota but I've done one on a 85 s10 chevy with a book and no help. But with having TW it's going to be helpful. I know a couple of yoda mechanics I can turn to if I get stuck. Im willing to give it a go. I'll look into YodaShop a little more. I've seen motors on craigslist but it gets sketchy when you see wiring harness just laying around (not taped up or taken care of) and inlet ports not covered. Right now it's all about homework and getting opinions. Of corse truck tear down. And thanks for the Reply I appreciate it.

 

Looking at their web-site, they sell 'swap' motors, and re-built motors. The 'swap' package appears to be intended for upgrading (swapping) a pre-Tacoma truck ( with a 22RE for example ) to a Tacoma engine.

If you have a Tacoma with a bad engine, they'll sell you a short-block or long-block rebuild in exchange for a core.

Thats how I read their web-site.

What was wrong with the AC?

 

Had to post this! I'm sure some of you will laugh, but it's nice to see what I consider a decent weld in teaching my self. Wish me the best on not ruining the rest of my bumper.

 

The compressor. I usually take my truck to the dealership cause a friend services our toyotas but they wanted $800+ for it.

I ended up finding an oem denso compressor for $180. Been without AC since last December.

 

That sucks, I only run my AC once a week or if its over 94 degrees. My AC is still blowing really cold air without any problems.

 

Stick? Not bad!
