Does use of Tailgate Camera outside of Reverse Driving constitute a safety hazard?

  1. No - Good idea for better visibility and now I'm thinking about doing it too.

Here's how I added several cameras to the Entune display. Let me know if you need any details. Adding one camera is really easy.

I can see how this mod would be helpful. I have a cap and use my back up cam when moving forward sometimes. I have it on a switch though. It's really useful when you are reversing out of a tight position and have to move forward and reverse several times. You can leave the camera on and not have it shut off everytime you pull forward. I've also left it on while driving in heavy traffic and it lets me see what the person in the back is doing, like how far away he is from my truck.

Its hard to not be condescending when someone has a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

So say I went off roading and was towing a guy out wouldn't a constant cam on a independent switch be of use while I was driving forward? But no all you can do is go on and on and and on and on and on about your stupid ass spot mirrors if you don't like or agree with the op and don't have any helpful input about wiring move the hell on

Well, I've never done that but I think the back up came only looks back about 15 feet and I don't if you would see much. I prefer to just use my regular mirrors for a situation like that, works every time.

Your mirrors wouldn't be able to see tow ropes or a hole truck could be stuck in.

I seriously do need to get packing for our trip to Lake Davis on the weekend. Hoping to hit the road at 6 to try and beat what traffic there will definitely be. Headed down to see how easily I can carpet the plywood sheets for the rack in the back.

I do very much appreciate all the help seen here. I was hoping there was an easy way to do this and it looks like others have done some more advanced versions, also. VERY nice setup @DougsGraphics . I believe I'm headed there in version 2.0 of this mod. Going to be working on this over the weekend. Thanks so much for all the technical materials @caribe makaira.

@BotoSlap808 Loved your summation . My wife laughed pretty hard at that one. Thank you for being the voice of reason.
Thanks to @Mavrick for wasting a solid 3 hours of my life learning about the mirrors I already know exist. You'd probably flip to know my Navigation/Dashcam has Collision Detection and Lane Drift detection all built into it. :annoyed: We All Gonna Die!!!!!:bananadead:

Today's lesson: Don't feed the trolls. Hope to have some awesome pics and vids from the weekend. Any hot tips for a few hour-long - med-difficulty trail near Lake Davis in CA?

Just read this whole thread... Mavrick, you really just need to STFU and GTFO. Bigskybob is asking for help, not asking whether its right or wrong, safe or unsafe. Don't try to belittle someone because you think its a bad decision in your mind. He has a good idea and most people will agree. My dog often blocks my view from looking out my rear windows and I agree having a camera's view of whats behind me or approaching me in traffic would help immensely.

Somehow I get the impression my comments are not well received on this thread. :jerkoff:
