    I have a 2WD auto V6 2002. When I stop, I get a clunk. Universal? What?

Could be anything. Is it coming from front, rear, do you feel it in the steering wheel, under you butt. Could be tie rods, rack guide, rack bushings, ball joint, broke leaf spring, transmission mount. If I'm just guessing you are saying as you are slowing down when the truck down shifts to first gear? Mine does this, and I have replaced u joints, but not carrier bearing, but greasing the joints if it's aTRD seems to stop it.

My 98 PreRunner clunked everytime I stopped too.
Someone said it was because the drive line was so loose.

My carrier bearing is a little loose and the Trans mount is a tad loose. May swap the Trans mount out soon, I have quite a bit of movement in the shifter during start and stops.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Grease your rear slip yolk, it's Tacoma axle wrap, completely normal for these things unfortunately. You can buy leaf spring helpers and install them upside down to fix it, or add beefier leaves to the rear is another option. I grease mine every oil change, but I am going to do the leaf spring helpers modification next payday for sure. Only costs like $30 to buy the parts and is an easy DIY job.

How many leafs? 5 is ideal from what I hear, the stock 3 wont really make a big difference.
