I was at the dealership today and there was a guy with his 06 taco that had over 900K. Pretty crazy.

That is like 330 to 350 miles a day, EVERY day for 7.5 years. I do not think this is possible.

It absolutely is possible. He's a licensed surveyor with certification from multiple states across the south. His company pays his travel expenses and mileage. It would also be less than 300 miles per day.

I agree its a little hard to believe. The tech working on it is the one who told me it had that many miles. he said 916 or something like that. Maybe he was lying. who knows.

Let's say he bought it in January of 06. That would mean it's right at 8 years now......52 weeks in a year....5 work days a week....5X52=260 work days a year if you don't take time off.....let's assume 10 days off a year.....250 work days....900K miles divided by 8 years is 112,500 miles a year.....divide by 250 work days and that comes out to 450 miles a day.....115 days a year not working....maybe 30 miles a day, times 115 is 3,450 miles we can take off the work days.....3,450/250=13.8 miles....pretty insignificant.....the guy is an animal if he can drive over 400 miles a day and still drive a bunch on the weekends.....I can't really believe that soooooo let's go with 450 a day.....

450 miles a day at 70 MPH is 6.42 hours a day. Sooo..... wakeup in the morning, drive 3.25 hours at 70MPH, survey 3 hours, turn around and drive back 3.25 hours.....that would be a 10 hour day, 5 days a week for 8 years.....not saying it isn't possible, truckers put in that kind of mileage and manage to make a few stops during the day......but to actually do surveying, including the office work, consistently for 8 years straight at that pace......he's an animal! Plus, how long can you keep getting survey jobs that are just off the interstate (70MPH). Working 12 hours a day in the field is more likely.

I can believe the truck would hold up fine if all he's doing with it is warming it up once and driving at highway speeds all day. Not much stress on it.

If he is driving 450 miles a day when is he actually working? I'm pretty sure Surveyor's have to get out of the truck?

This whole story makes no sense.

I saw somebody say "hauling firewood"... I used to do that in my Hyundai ! now that I have a Tacoma I need to haul something bigger... what's bigger than trees ? my Tacoma still has less than 6000 miles, I have a long way to go

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
9 years and 900k? That's 100k a year my friend, unless he's using his Tacoma like an OTR truck driver, I doubt he has 900k miles on it lol. I haven't even seen a first gen running around with that many miles yet and they are a few years ahead. Most miles I've seen on any Tacoma was 625k and that was a 2003 double cab.
