I've got camburg uniball UCA's and my only issue is the constant squeak I get and it's a pretty loud and embarrassing squeak.

Thanks for all the responses! You guys are very helpful.

I went ahead and bought the TC UCAs at DSM with their Black Friday coupon code. $619 shipped.

Any other experience or opinions on Tri-Flow vs WD-40 Dry Lube? Does it make much difference?

I just bought the ICON UCAs to replace my LightRacing UCAs. Why? Because the LightRacing UCA is ideal for most situations, but not extreme rockcrawling. The slit in the UCA is designed to help adjust for alignment. It is also an invitation for getting your camber knocked way out of whack during rockcrawling. Happened to my 4R in Clayton, OK. Happened to another 4R buddy in New Mexico at TOTH this year. We are both replacing our LR UCAs with ICONs (he is getting the billet ones...I opted for the poor man's version).

I did look at the TCs, but ended up with ICONs only because a local Toyota offroad retailer had them in stock.

You will eventually get squeaking, personally I would have went with LR UCAs and saved some money. Even with the deal you still spent about $600 on arms that really won't be used as intended and will no better fix your alignment then LR UCAs would have.

Sorry man, just being honest with you and my honesty may or may not be used to help someone else make this same decision

I think some people buy the uniball arms just based on popularity and intended use of truck or actual need is not thoroughly considered.

They seem like a nice set of arms, my concern with them would be the inside arm hitting the coil on down travel. I haven't seen these arms in action, but I've seen other boxed arms run into this issue. They were all one off custom arms though with little to no R&D work.

By the way, if you look at the Icon arms you can see they considered this coilover clearence issue with that slight bend of the inside tubing, pretty cool IMO and says a little something about the R&D they put into the product they sell. Your welcome Icon, now wheres my free rear bumps :D:D:D

Well that makes perfect sense to me why you went with those, great deal for sure. ;)

No need to be sorry, I'm not that sensitive. There were two reasons I went this route that are not in this thread. (1) I am looking to have the coilovers rebuilt as extended travel, and (2) As this is an older truck, I am planning to pass it on to my twin boys approaching driving age and am likely to have a replacement Tacoma that will be extended travel, and would likely swap the UCA over to the new truck.

As for LR UCAs, I have run across several accounts of them slipping and becoming loose over rough terrain.

    Example:

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...52-need-new-ucas-tired-light-racing-help.html

As for squeaking, yes I am worried about that, and if it is an issue, well I will be pissed, sell the TCs, and likely buy the Camburg BJ arms. Many reports out there from trucks with uniball UCAs that squeak, others that never squeak.

Well that makes sense why you went with the TCs.

Yeah I heard of the LR UCA slip issue, but nothing proper torque and some non permanent thread locker couldn't solve. No honestly though these issues of slip seem quit rare over the amount of folks who run these. I know a couple guys who run them and beat on their trucks quite a bit and do so squeak free.

I myself actually have custom uniball UCAs and do fine preventing the squeak with Dupont teflon dry lub. But I also always try and keep them clean, live in Cali where its real dry and pretty much only do desert off-roading, not big on the mud.

You consider selling the COs you have and just buying extended travel ones, sometimes this is a better option them having them rebuilt? Just throwing this out there.

I have thought about that, and may do it, depends on the hassle getting the extended travel upgrade during rebuild.

50k miles on the TC UCAs with no squeaking of any kind. I have not lubed the uniballs with dry lube either. Lots of winter salt, mud, sand, dust, etc.

My truck is a child transporter these days so off-roading is minimal. That's why I went with the LR UCA's. I can't deal with squeekes and lubing of uniball arms. The LR made more sense FOR ME and gave me room for the inevitable future upgrade.

Good to hear, I want Uni-Balls, but live in new England, and don't want constant squeaks on my daily driver.

I got the Camburg w/ Moog ball joints and love them so far.
