Well, My wife & I never made it to Citrus but we do plan to go to Holder Mine. I see there is a bath house so I assume there are restrooms also?

Just curious, why Holder Mine instead of Citrus?

I finally got a 285/70r17 spare. Hopefully I won't need it though.

 

Holder Mine is Citrus. There are three campgrounds in Citrus WMA. Usually we stay at Tillis Hill, but it requires reservations. Not only does that mean a volunteer has to prepay for everyone's campsite, it also gives the FWC a heads up that a crap ton of off-roaders is about to descend on the property. This gives them plenty of time to call in reinforcements for patrolling the area. This is why a group of us last year got caught in a verbotten area and ticketed. Holder Mine doesn't require reservations, so we can catch them off guard hopefully.

Yes, there are restrooms at Holder Mine. The primitive campsites have porta-johns, which I understand are very clean. The RV sites are on the side with the bathhouse, which has normal toilets and hot water.

 

Makes sense to me. Now, keep in mind that I've never been there so forgive me if the question sounds silly. Since this is 1st come, 1st serve (no reservations) is there a possibility that there may not be enough room for everyone?

 

It's possible that there might not be enough RV sites with power and water hook-ups for everyone, but there's more than a hundred primitive sites so there should be plenty of space. (You can still use the bathhouse if you have a primitive site.)

 

Thanks man. You answered all of my questions. Awesome. My wife & I camped out for the 1st time ever at Lazy Springs last January or February and it was primitive.

Not bad at all in cool or cold weather but definitely need bathroom access for the misses.

 

No problem. As I said, even if you wind up in a primitive site, you can still use the bathhouse. It's just a bit of a hike. Depending on how far off the main trail your site is, it's probably better to drive to the bathhouse, which does have a small parking lot in front of it. Oh, and if you plan on cooking over the campfire, you'll need to bring a grill to do so if you are in one of the primitive sites. Unlike the RV sites that have fire pits with attached grills, the primitive sites don't have anything. Ya just build your fire right on the ground and use one of those campfire grills to cook on.

Thanks man. All I had to do was cut the 2 tabs on either side and hammer them up into the bracket. The tabs that limit the tire size.

CB Channel: 4

Cost: RV sites with power and water are $20/night and primitive sites that run $10/night. Both types allow two trucks per site.
