I've done the searching and read the threads and it seems like there's a lot of people that just jump in and say "get lce its the best". I'm not sure if that's from experience or just relaying what has been said before. My question is is it worth the money. I'm not expecting miracles but does it actually make a $450 difference? My truck goes down the road fine now and I cant complain it will maintain 70 mph on the highway with all my camping/ wheeling gear with some downshifting and to me that's normal being a truck driver and dealing with heavy loads and underpowered engines lol. But I'm planning a trip out west and figured a little more pep wouldn't hurt for going over the Ricky's when I get to them.

It was worth it, for me. It made a difference...according to my "butt dyno". :D:D

Not sure on the 2.7L. Had one on my 22RE with a full catback. Made a big difference.

For me it was most noticeable on long uphill grades. I didn't have to downshift as soon or at all.
Then I got bigger tires and was pretty much back to where I started.
    Oh well.

There is a thread somewhere with Dyno results comparing LCE with Doug Thorley. LCE came out on top.

I have been thinking about redoing my exhaust since my cats are clogged. Thinking about getting the header too. Let me know if you decide to get them, maybe we can combine on shipping.

if you just do the header and leave the exhaust and intake stock, do not bother.

Its a compliment mod really only fully functional with a better flowing intake and exhaust setup.

I had one on my old 98 2rz and the difference was hardly noticeable with nothing else upgraded however when I added a magnaflow muffler and all new piping paired with an aem intake.. I felt the power on the freeway and cruising around town with a smoother quicker acceleration and less need to downshift up large grades.

I know this is an old thread lol but did you end up getting one? I just installed an LCE yesterday and it makes noticeable difference.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and I take a mountain pass range known as the Coquihalla. To reach the summit you climb 3900 feet in 29 miles, so as you can imagine the highway gets pretty hilly.
-Before LCE header I was constantly gear shifting and moving very slowly.
-After LCE header I can usually stay in 4th with the occasional drop to 3rd for the real steep parts and maintain a decent speed(for the 4cyl)

The only downside is the gasket at the bottom of the collector always wears out. The header needs a bracket, LCE should have addressed this.

I just had mine installed today and for me it was worth it. $495 for the header and another $190 for a shop to install it (everything else I left stock). I’m running 225/75/15 tires , stock 3.42 gears (auto) and the sweet spot seemed to be around 55-60 mph, now it’s closer to 65-70. Rolling on to pass is much easier and I notice I’m getting into the gas less. Starts off the line are improved slightly, it’s once you get going you really feel the difference.

My main concern was noise and there wasn’t much of a change. Overall I’d say the fun factor was increased by 15-20% which is about what I expected. A full 2 ½ or 3 inch exhaust would be nice but for now I’d rather put that money towards lighter wheels, gear ratio change, etc.

If money is tight and you’re looking for big gains I’d say pass on it. Otherwise I’d say pull the trigger and enjoy the new improved ride. My first thought after driving it was “This is how it should have come from the factory.”.

BCTSR5, What speed would you say you're able to comfortably maintain going up those mtn passes. Is yours a manual trans, stock size tires?
May put that header on my must buy list after I regear.

I installed my header this weekend. I can already tell the mid range feels much better. Hopefully it'll also improve with time. It took me about 3 or 4 hours because I'm slow, but not very hard to put in.

I also realized how ugly our stock intakes are. I'm now on the lookout for a used aftermarket air intake, or I might go the snorkel route.
