The gap on mine could be reduced on the ends by giving it a couple taps with a dead blower hammer, but I've never seen the need to do that.

    Somehow I missed Britt's write-up until now.

At first I was trying to figure out what "gap", but I got it now. The gap is very insignificant in my opinion. I love my tailgate cap and siderails.

Britt, nice job documenting your install.

I'm going to install the caps as soon as I can carve out the time. I plan to add roof tracks to them so that I can use my Yakima Landing Pads. I've been trying to decide if I drill and tap the caps, or just drill thru holes that line up with the holes in the side rails and use a nut under the track screws. Suggestions?

The caps are 1/8" thick, which would be thick enough to tap, but you might be safer with a thru-bolt arrangement.

Anyone ever have issues with water getting in between and sitting the bed and cap? I really like the look of this product and I think it'll make mounting my bed racks a lot more solid.

Just curious about any water and possible rust issues, I'm assuming not but thought I'd ask.

Really thinking of getting a set of caps as well out here on Maui.

Wonder if these caps will be compatible with the soft topper i plan to install in the future.

They sit slightly lower than the factory rail caps. As long as that works for your application, they should be better than factory.

Has anyone with a BakFlip cover installed these? I would like to mount a roof rack to a set but I don't think my cover will seal towards the tailgate.

Are these compatible with the access cover soft bed cover? I also have a factory cargo divider in the bed. Can I make it all work together?
