    Hello All,
I am new in this community. Thought I could receive feedback from experts in here regarding as to why the rims in my 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport got so deteriorated. I live in Puerto Rico, so climate is different. Hot in in day, cold at night living in the rural area of PR. Truck also sleeps outside every day since day 1.

Any way to prevent this from happening again? Is it repairable? If so, any recommendations. tutorials?

    Many thanks in advance.
    David.

Holy Shit! First get a lug nut cuz it looks like youre missing one. As far as the rims I dont know bro, could that be corrosion from the salt where youre from? Neglect maybe? I guess you can get all that stuff taken off and have it powder coated but not sure Ive never seen anything like that before. Good luck and post pics after you get it sorted out.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
separate tires from rims, remove the valve stem, then sand blast lightly with very fine sand, low pressure.....then have them powder coated followed by at least three coats of clear....do not have weights attached to outside of rim, ever, they can use tape weights on the inside to accomplish that part of the balance....that way you will not blemish the finish and they should last you a long time. or, just get another set of rims, that style is cheap, I got mine for $55 bucks each, same as yours....

the powder coating and sand blasting will probably cost more than just getting another good set of the same rims....

wow. if they are really that economic just 55 USD yes i would prefer that. but i don't think here in PR we have those prices. surely in here will cost more than 100+ USD per unit. will look into the sand blast process you just detailed above. will start watching videos and materials required. thank you.

My 2005 TRD Sport wheels have similar, but not as progressed damage. Looks like it's bubbling up from the inside on mine. Lived its first 73,000 miles in Florida and the next 100,000 in North Carolina (inland), so I don't really think it's just island life attacking them. As noted above - probably cheaper to buy new wheels than to try to fix these. You can actually get used TRD Sport wheels in decent shape for about USD$100 each. Not sure what shipping would be to P.R. Heck - I'll sell you the TRD Sport wheels off my '15 for $500 plus shipping. 3,500 miles - perfect condition.

It's not your climate - before getting my Tacoma this week, I had a 2008 4Runner that I had since new, it had the same wheels. When I traded it in the wheels looked the same. I live in NJ, not near ocean but with a 6 month winter. I assume this was due to not washing the brake dust off the wheels often enough and corroding the coating.
