I was still able to remote unlock the doors for someone ahead of me on my Nissan. Depending on the smart key system, some are actually full functioning fobs. So you will likely still be able to do that.

If you hands are full you still have to fiddle with the fob on a normal keyed entry. Same with the smart key only the buttons on the door. Not much difference there, TBH.

No, what people are saying is that your desire to spend thousands of dollars to swap out the smart key system is silly. I get that it's not exactly what you want for your own reasons. However, you have yet to buy a Tacoma with it and see how you like it. It's a good feature for many and after you get used to it you'll find it to be very little different from a key. Your truck won't control you or your family.

I have the push button on my Corolla and its fine but I will say its no better or no worse, just different. I don't see it as a feature, again, just different and no big deal when you get used to it. The thing that pisses me off is people view this as an upgrade or cool gadget so they put it in and charge all of us more money for it. After you use it for a while the novelty wears off and that's when you realize its just a gadget and you have less money in your pocket.

I had one in a 2014 Corolla and I can't say I liked it much. I can see most people getting used to it though. I personally like the feel and function of a key ignition better. The biggest complaint I had about the smartkey was getting it into and out of accessory mode when you wanted 12V but didn't want to start the engine. I would prefer a key start, but it looks like it won't be an option for my next Taco, which will likely be a 2017 TRD Sport AC 6spd.

I wish I had push button start, I've used it in quite a few vehicles and its great not to have to take the keys out or put them in the ignition.

The only problem I have seen with it was if you go to drop the owner of the vehicle off, leave and turn the car off only to realize that they still have the key... a little bit of a problem. That happened on a Lexus.

Never said I was going to spend thousands. Plus I never saw anyone give a valid price quote either.

I said I had it in a rental, so it isn't like I have not tried it out. I'm sick of everyone basically stating that there are only things to like about it and anyone who doesn't love it is being unreasonable.
