98k Mile wheel bearing replacement?

Took my 01 with 98k miles in at Firestone for alignment. They called back and said the wheel bearing seal is failing and want $100 to replace for both ends. Is that normal for 98k miles?

 

It's very possible! Bearings are expected to last about that many miles anyways. And for 100 bucks, that's cheap! Tell them to use good bearings though. Might up the price 40 bucks but it's worth it.

firestone is a rip off, if they say they are changing seals then that is ALL they are changing for that $100, nothing from firestone is even remotely anywhere in the ball park of cheap or reasonable prices

after they get it apart they will tell you "well the bearings are bad too so its another $200 for new bearings" it is their SOP for ripping people off.

 

If you are unable to do it yourself, take it to a Dealer or a trusted Toyota mechanic. Run far and fast from Firestone.

 

Is this for one of the front wheel bearings? or the rear?

 

Front. Yea I forgot about a bad experience I had there. They said I needed break pads and rotors 3hrs after i had that already done
