My wife took my truck to Firestone a couple of weeks ago to balance my tires before I get back from deployment. She also had them do one of their 120 or whatever point inspection. They said that the U-bolts are going bad. I have the u-bolts that comes with Toytec Ultimate Lift Kit. They have about 60K miles on them. Is this something that normal wear and tear? Do they really need replaced or is Firestone just looking to take my money?

    Hard call to make .

Did you install the lift kit and maybe not get them torqued correct.

So things are rocking somewhat ??

About the only way I know u-bolts might wear.

How does one tell they are worn??

Pretty much put them on and cut them off to remove them.

Most Women and quite a few men and Firestone don`t go good in my book

Always trying to sell unneeded service They gotta make the over head some way.

Verify that she isn't mistaking u-bolts for u-joints (that actually do wear out, visibly).

The only way a ubolt goes bad is if its bent or stretches so it cant be torqed.

Yeah, I had her look at the paper again and it is the u-joints. I found it weird the u-bolts would go bad. Should I replace my center support bearing when I do the u-joints? They didn't say anything about it but my truck has 96K on it.
