    I have a 2012 TRD Sport DCLB with stock suspension and no lift. I'm coming due for some tires and am liking the aggressive look of the BFG A/T's. I see BFG has All Terrain and Rugged Terrain is an option too and am trying to compare the two as far as aggressive stance, effectiveness on and off road, rubbing on a non lifted TRD sport, and MPG which is the least of my concern but still a factor. Off-road.com says "Here’s a comparison between the tread pattern of the Rugged Terrain T/A (front) and the All-Terrain T/A KO. As shown here, the Rugged Terrain is not quite as aggressive as the All-Terrain, but it is a much quieter tire on pavement and is designed for improved wet traction." in regards to the picture I have posted but am wondering what tacomaworld has to say. Thanks for any help.

    Well, the ko's are decent for off-road. They'll keep you out of moderate trouble. The rugged terrains will likely give you a better ride, less noise, better mpg and longer wear. They'll still do decent off-road, but they lack that aggressive look. I'd go with the ko. They're a little less grocery-gitter.

    Thanks, I think that's what I'm leaning towards. I think with those and a subtle lift or leveling they will still look good but it seems I can fit them without needing a lift quite yet. I'm also deciding on what to get for a reasonably priced suspension kit. My friend may be able to get me a deal on an icon setup but that's pretty expensive too.

    I've owned AT on my last two vehicles, I personally found it to have excellent treadlife.

    If I were in your boat, i'd go for the KO2 (2nd gen). Came out right after I put my current set on. They look even more aggressive. Any KO tire you buy at this point is likely to have been sitting on a shelf for the better part of the year.

    I'm in a '14 Sport, no suspension mods but the wheels are not factory. No issues.

    Can't go wrong with the BFG KOs! They were my 1st set I got after I got my truck. My Tacoma had the Rugged Terrain and I didn't really like them. I'd get the KO2s they seem really good.

    Yeah it's all up to you and what you want to do with it. My friend loves his All-Terrain T/A KOs on his Tundra and he goes pretty much anywhere I go. I tried to get him to buy Goodyears Duratracs next I wanted him to be my guinea pig, but he seems set on getting the BFG All-Terrain KO2s next.

    Are you getting the older AT KM or the new AT KM2?

    I had the Rugged Terrains on my previous 4Runner and I enjoyed them. They rode great on the highway and did very well in the MD/DC snow storms.

    But when I replace my tires on the Tacoma, I want to go with the BFG AT KM2.

    He meant KO or KO2. Those in the link are KO2, the newest design with the more aggressive sidewall. I'd skip the Rugged Terrains but I'd make sure to get load range C ATs, not E. The E range tires will be heavier, stiffer, and more expensive.

    Yea whoops... I meant KO... the KO is on the AT and KM is on the Muds. Both are in "Gen 2" of the K_ line up; in actually the KM2/KO2 are the 3rd version of the tire. The original T/A series didn't have any sidewall lug/tread/ribs.

    When I bought my Taco I did a lot of reading online. Get the KO2 instead of the KO. The KO2's are the newer generation and reportedly better than the original. Had I gone with an AT tire the KO2 was at the top of my list.

    I decided to get a Highway tire since I don't actually off-road yet. And I put 20+ miles a day on my truck at 55-70mph for my commute to work. My Michelin LTX M/S2's aren't aggressive looking at all... but they are quiet, ride very smooth, hold a straight line, and did not impact fuel economy at all.

    I have been told I may need to remove or trim my front mud flaps if the truck isn't lifted yet but that's a small issue I believe.

    I don't know why, but it sounds like it varies from truck to truck. plenty of people here have put the KO2s on their unlifted truck and report zero problems. Seems like there shouldn't be variance from vehicle to vehicle, but apparently there is.

    That's the same size as a 265/75/16 (31.5" +/-). You shouldn't have to do anything - even for offroading - as long as you're on stock rims with no spacers. If you have spacers, you may rub when flexing and turning. I ran the 265/75/16 through hell and back with no issues before lifting and going to 33s

    Nice, I'm looking into wheels and a subtle leveling kit up to a 3" lift. I think I'll still be happy with the tires with a little suspensions increase
