Just curious how many of you have gotten jobs by starting out as an apprentice in a trade. I'm looking into picking a trade but not sure what i want to do yet. So if you guy can tell me about what you do in your trade that might help and spark interest.

I went thru a 4 year apprenticeship in metal working. Ended up as a tool and die maker. Was a shop manager for a couple companies and even taught at a vocational school for ten years. Now I design and build equipment for many different scientists for a college and couldn't be happier.
My training was usually 50-55 hours a week and it ialso ncluded 8 hours of classes a week after work also. Sometimes Saturday's too.
Apprenticeships are a great way to learn a trade but unfortunately aren't too popular now as many people don't stay at one job that long anymore.
I will say that having that experience on my resume has opened doors for me thru the years. Definitely gave me a leg up on others vying for the same job. Good luck to you in your search.
