So last week my parking brake light came on while driving, the next few days it went on and off by itself. I generally don't use the parking brake (automatic) because the cable was stretched when I bought the truck, it doesn't do anything. I checked the brake fluid level and it is at the max line as always. However I want this light off because it is misleading to other drivers. The brake was already adjusted under the dash the most it can be. Will adjusting the rear shoes do anything? Does anyone know where the sensor is that turns the light on, maybe I could rig that up?

    Thanks

I don't think you understood my issue. My parking brake light is on in the dash, when the parking brake is off.

He understood the issue. The only thing that turns that brake light on is the switch in the posted schematic. The switch is bad or the e brake pedal needs to be adjusted.

says its at max line, why would you do that? it should be a middle line above low and under max, what fluid is in there?
