Did you feel your 04 was unsafe to drive do to not having 4 disc brakes?

So basically you have no real world experience with a 2nd gen or with a 2016 Tacoma. Good to know.:D

Well, none of those things happened to me during my test drives of the Canyon and Colorado. In fact, the only issue that you mentioned that seems remotely common is the hood flutter issue.

That was on three different Canyons in November and December last year. It's likely they fixed those early production issues, along with the incorrectly installed weather stripping, missing firewalls, and massively visible and ragged bed welds.

Nope. Bed welds still there (I can see one from my office window). GM quality ain't what it used to be.

There is a reason there are many 1950 cars around instead of 1990s or 1980s cars around.
While braking wasn't as good then, the cars were better built. Period. Sure they didn't have fuel injection, but for build quality nothing surpasses the old 50s/60s cars.

Put the more modern fueling system and electrical systems and they will LITERALLY last forever

I had no issue with the bed welds I saw on the two I test drove. Were they visible? Sure, but that doesn't bother me in the least. The other issues you mentioned certainly would have bothered me, had I had them. I don't recall reading about very many occurrences of any of them, even when they were first released in late '14.

This is bad for an auto... The pump needs to turn which you get by keeping it in drive

Like there's much chance of that. No, he's going to lord it over us and demand sacrifices.

I can think of a few forum members I'd offer up on the great pyre.

Thanks for the reply.... so I have never owned a truck.... what does it really mean when you say "drives like a truck"? If it's geared differently, what purpose is it geared for? One could speculate it's a truck, therefore geared for hauling/towing, but toyota straight up said Tacos aren't designed for towing as high priority. So what is it geared for? Why the need for such high revving/ high rpms?
