2011 Tacoma is almost 4 years old and I have tracked costs from the day I bought it new:

In Canada these are my costs. Tracked since I have bought it new in Nov 2011 on my own spreadsheet.

Total km on truck is 61670

Cost of gas spent per km $0.13 (Based on actual Canadian gas price fill ups and avg of 19.1 mpg) (Total Spent $8215)

Cost of maintenance per km $0.03 (Total Spent $1563, includes oil changes, car washes, tires, etc)

Cost of Insurance per km $0.09 (Total $5611)

Cost of Depreciation per km $0.23 (Now Depreciation is pretty much based on a 16% depreciation rate but in reality it is a fixed rate and would depreciate if it stood still but this gives you an idea of the cost of depreciation Total Depreciation cost $13,887)

Total cost of operating vehicle around $29,343 or about $0.475 per km. This is a good estimate based on actual tracked costs over the lifetime of my Tacoma so far.

So basically your 4 year operating cost was about the same as the purchase price? (not sure how much you Canadians paid back in 2011).

Also should note the oil changes were free for the first couple of years so maybe another cent or so per kilometer would be more accurate.
