As did all my stuff, sadly my gas can and lockable handle came today. But no mount to hang it all, fuckers

So the mount came in, and I bought the lockable can holder. It came with 4 bolts that have a square notch at the end to fit into the plate of the lockable mount. Yet only one square hole lines up to the Toyota/Nissan mounting plate. Kind of confused as the bolts are to big to go through the round screw holes

    Carriage bolts

If you drop all 4 bolts into the square holes , they don't line up with the 4 holes on the mounting plate ?

Not for attachment to the plate. But I took it off the round mount and attached it to the truck plate. That works now just trying to figure out how the lock works.

Got the same stupid hardware, quite shitty I thought
Oh and the black bolt that attaches the plate to the rail, they should have zink coated it. Mines all rusted and needs to be replaced. Basically the whole mounting kit is a total pile of shit and a complete waste of money. Should have just made my own instead of being lazy.

Discard that mounting plate, and mount the upright directly to the Tacoma plate, like in this pic:

    The holes will line up.

Got it all on. And I must say for the money charged, stuff should definitely be better quality. I installed the bed rail mount last night and as Mr. Salty stated the bolt and bed rail nut is already starting to rust in well under 24 hours. WOW WTF.

Had it on before the can, and thought the locking part that said Rotopax was supposed to twist separately. But then I put the can on screwed on the locking mechanism until it fit into the groove and the kept twisting the piece that said Rotopax on it until it was so hard to move. Then put the lock in, turned the key and done.

In case anyone is curious, I installed this setup today and it fit under my access limited cover. I have 2 car seats in the back row and wanted a little more storage in addition to the cubbies in the bed so I can get to stuff w/o messing with the car seats.
