hello tacoma fanatics. i frequent this forum regularly because it is filled with valuable information. have been for at least 2 or 3 years, however i have not joined until just recently. this is technically my first post. if anyone wants a reference, please look up my account details on ebay. username: selftc. i have 100% positive feedback with nearly 100 transactions.

as usual, i get bit by the mobile audio upgrade bug every few years. with that being said, it’s time for me to part with these. custom A pillars that I built for my ’05 tacoma. these come loaded with Hybrid Audio Legatia L3 3” midrange drivers and the Alpine Type-X ring radiator tweeter (Vifa xt-19 or xt_19 variant, I forget which). i purchased all speakers new during the build process. these pillars have been textured and colored for a perfect match. i put many hours into these using laser levels and home-made jigs to make sure that these pillars are perfectly symmetrical with each other. they sound incredible and present a very wide stage and stage height that is amazing. there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. i am not sure what i plan to replace these with, but i am most positive that i will have another fiberglass project on my hands….. i might give kick panels a try or build custom fiberglass pods (active 3-way) on each of my front doors.

i have absolutely no idea what price to put on these, but since there are still no mass produced A-pillars for the ’05 and up taco, the odds of something like this popping up in the for sale section is very unlikely. custom fiberglass work takes time, and i have over $350 invested in the drivers[IMG] alone, however i want to price them to sell quick so that i can start ordering the new equipment. right now, i seriously think that i could get $750 or more out of these, however, i will start them out at $500 firm. like i said, i am ready to move on these to free up some funding for what’s next.

i also have a set of the Alpine Type X passive crossovers if you do not want (or have a way) to run these actively crossed over. if you are interested in those also, they will be included in the $500 price.

i have seen and heard of complications with selling this type of custom work in the past, so i am going to put some requirements on this sale to protect[IMG] the both of us.

    Buyer Requirements:
    1) 1) you buy my pillars, you also give me your factory pillars because i don’t have a backup pair. also, yours must be in perfect condition and grey in color.
    2) 2) i would like to demo them for you. i don’t want to ship them to you and then you write me back and tell me that they sound terrible or don’t look as nice as pictured (or promised). i want to demo them for you so that i can know for certain that you enjoy them and would have nothing to come back to me about after the deal is complete. also, these would be very difficult to ship and i am not willing to risk[IMG] them getting damaged by the shipping company.
    3) 3) to help the buyer out, i am willing to travel as far as 1 hour in any direction to help broaden my range of potential buyers. i am located in western Kentucky (zip 42301).

if i have no luck selling them near-by, then i “might” be willing to widen the range and take a risk on shipping them. if/when I reach that decision, i will post and let everyone know. in the meantime, please do not ask me to ship them. please, serious inquiries only…..

thx guys. and they sound every bit as good as they look..... again, i'm just ready to build and try something different.

no interest ? i thought for sure these would be sold by now. there are not many car audio shops left out there that are willing to do this type of custom work, especially using fiberglass. a set of pillars like these even without the drivers would probably set you back $600 - $800 (labor mainly) or more. i wish i knew how many hours of sanding i have in these. i am OCD and i wanted these to be a perfect mirror image of the other, and they are.

Would this work if there are airbags in the pillars?

i don't know sean. i have a .pdf of the complete parts list for my '05. if anyone has the same for the '13 model, we could compare part numbers. i took my wife's new 2015 Highlander to the dealership recently to get the free regular scheduled service. inside the showroom was a 2015 Tacoma. i took a close look at the interior of the 2015 and to me, it looks like the pillars are still unchanged since the initial '05 body style change. i can't say for certain that these will fit a '13 model, but i think we could simply do some research and find out.

    bump

these are still available. i've had some interest, but no commitments yet. i have these priced at a steal for $500. even if you could find a mobile audio shop willing to build something like this for you, you'll still be out at least $700 or more and that price would not include the speakers. also, they may need to keep your truck for a few days.

if no luck on here, i will post these on other tacoma forums as well.

well, i've been simply too lazy to post these on other toyota and/or tacoma message boards, mainly since i have had so much interest on this forum. although many have inquired, none have committed. either not positive they will fit their year model or they want the pillars and don't have the money. well..... i'm ready for these to sell because it is holding up the purchase of some new gear that i am anxious to buy and install, so i am going to drop the price to $450 shipped. if you want them and plan to pay with paypal, then you cover pp fees. what is it, 3 or 4 percent i think ? i can promise you that you will not be able to find any custom pillars as nice as these, that are already loaded with speakers, at anywhere near this low of a price. these are as custom as custom gets.....
