I really wish they would drop the chrome rear bumper, looks so out of place on that truck. Love that quicksand color, wish the rear fender flare came just a bit more forward. Looks as if its missing, not to much an issue with the painted flares since they blend in. I see so much 2nd gen in these trucks though, not a bad thing but just confirms it was just a makeover and not a redesign. How did you like the new 6spd trans?

I test rode for a second time tonight. This time I actively engaged and disengaged the ECT switch and it made a noticeable difference in both shifting smoothness and power output. The transmission didn't feel "confused" or hesitant.

That said, the engine still feels underwhelming. I was expecting more.

At this point, I'm probably gonna get it knowing that the engine is not the highlight.

I hope it will feel/perform better with a manual tranny.

The only way they will fail before the front disks is if you lift the parking/emergency brake handle and start driving.

Do all of the TRD Sport models come with the red trim around the dashboard?

No..... I believe that is either an option or comes standard with the Inferno exterior color.

Simulated, okay, that makes more sense... It seemed like a lot of added complexity for not much gain, and I couldn't imagine this goofy thing spinning at 5,000 rpms. Fuel economy isn't that much better than my 2014, but I guess if there is more power, then it is worth it. On the other hand... there is no replacement for displacement.

I liked my '95 4Runner but hated the weak 3.0. When I test drove the 4.0 Taco, I got a semi chub with it's quickness. If the 3.5 turns out to be a disappointment, Toyota would be having Japanese engineers publicly declaring their unworthiness, maybe even diving off tall buildings. Time will tell.

Hard to believe the '16 Tacoma is under-powered. BOTH the Camry 3.5l and IS350 3.5l are actually very powerful engines, and Toyota must be using one of them in the Tacoma. Hard to believe they would be making three different configurations of the 3.5l.

It's an option with any exterior color. It was offered to me for my BBP Tacoma. I politely declined.

Mm that looks so good. This picture tipped my scale heavily toward an MT TRD OR vs a Limited. Still waiting for dealerships around me to get some... It's not like Cali down in the southeast :/

Obviously there is as this new, smaller engine makes more horse power than the larger engine

There is another trim that you can get with red in it also. It adds red to the door panels and on the dash over the glove box. It was on the SR5 I saw the other day. This truck was Barcelona red. While I wouldn't order it that way, it wasn't completely hideous.

Trump displaces technology. Future engines will be powered by combover static.
