Why I'll likely never buy a third Gen

Not third gen bashing, just calling it like I see it. With the release of the third gen, I've never been so happy to be the owner of a second gen other than when I bought my 2012 new in September of 2012. When I bought my truck I really felt as though I was buying a great, still somewhat simple vehicle (by today's standards). I always thought that the second gen was a good looking truck, but I really felt like they hit the nail on the head with the mid model redesign of the 2012-2015. I felt almost like the second gen was going to be one of the "classic" Toyota trucks, similar to the late eighties and early nineties Pickups.

I love how Spartan my 2012 is, no power seats, seat heaters etc.. It's got everything I need and nothing I don't. When I bought it I said to my self what many say but never do "I'm going to keep this truck forever." Like many I said that halfway thinking that when the next gen came out I'd be Jonesing for a new one. I had some really high hopes for the third gen, I thought maybe the styling would be a little more reminiscent of pickups past, I thought maybe the power train would improve, especially with engines such as ford Ecoboost out there.

Well after seeing one and seeing the specs, and the price tag, I'm hugely disappointed. The thing looks like the bastard spawn of a three way between a tacoma, a rav 4 and a explorer sport trac, the engine sucks and it's got getting to luxurious, and at close to 40k toyota can suck it... For a compact pickup that's just retarded.

There has always been something cool to me about owning an "old" toyota, so now with the release of the third gen I've never been happier to have a poverty stricken last generation vehicle. Now hopefully even more stuff will come about in the aftermarket and I can keep this thing forever.

It's funny how everyone has to talk themselves into keeping their 2nd gen to make them feel better about the situation. People just need to give it time, the truck is just now barely hitting dealers. Wait until you see the truck get into more people's hands and start modding them, your tune and everyone else's will change about the 3gen.

I read an article last night that appeared to say the 2016 Taco would be bigger than the Tundra. I think they gave the review job to a person that doesn't have a clue, but it was funny to read.
