So, long story short, my truck is a freshwater flood surviver. But don't stop reading, overall the core electrical in my truck has be reliable so far after some good connector cleaning...etc. ECM, cluster, BCM, were all replaced with used items. I've been driving it without any driveability electrical issues as of yet.

I have one lingering problem though:

Intermittantly (cannot find a root cause making the problem appear/disappear)- all of these problems happen in unison.

1.Wireless door control will not work(i.e. no response from remote), but put the key in the door and I can lock/double unlock with no problem.

    2. Dome and map lights inop in any position.

    3. A/C memory doesn't return. Once ignition is on, AC works fine, just have to push the AC button again. Recirc memory is ok though.

    4. Clock inop/no memory.

And in one blip....all of this stuff will start working again.

There doesn't seem to be one common power supply to all of these items. And you might be thinking grounds, but things like the dome lights and clock don't share the same grounds, and to boot, many grounds are redundant.

Last but not least, I'm wondering if the BCM internally has a problem. An interesting note: the BCM from the base model (manual locks and windows) was a plug and play into my Prerunner with power locks/windows, yeah, I was surprised too. Anyhow, if anyone else can come up with something, I would appreciate it.

One last request: Please keep the comments section limited to specific technical discussion. When people chime in with random comments, it's easy to lose details. Thanks :)

Or, you might disconnect each connector. I traced just such a problem in a car my son had. We had it in two shops, they couldn't find it either. I had become convinced we had a wire that had chafed and lost some insulation and was shorting randomly. Turns out when we took one of the connectors loose, it was full of the usual green gunk copper seems to produce. Cleaned it out carefully and problem was forever gone. Water can cause just such corrosion.
