I recently purchased a 2002 Tacoma Crew Cab V6 4x4. When speeds reach 55-65mph the back of the truck vibrates really bad left to right enough it is visible looking at the bed. Had the tires rotated and balanced still same issue. one side note, slight vibration underneath truck when accelerating from a complete stop for a few seconds. Under 55 or over 65 the truck is smooth.

Can anyone let me know some things to check? Thank you.

Sounds like you might have a bad U-joint. Or...your driveshaft is out of balance (rare).
Check your ujoint and/or lubricate it and see if anything changes. Check your driveshaft for obvious signs a weight has fallen off (or damage to the driveshaft, etc).

Is the truck lifted? If yes....driveshaft angle might be 'off'

Wouldn't hurt to rotate the tires too - but only do ONE thing at a time so you can pointpoint the problem. If you have a bad 'out of balance' rear wheel or a bent rear wheel...could cause strange vibes too.

These are some things that I would do to check for issues:

Look for looseness in the drive train. Grab the drive shaft and jerk on it, there shouldn't be any play anywhere.
Check the u-bolt nuts for looseness.
Lift up one side at a time, and spin the wheel. Look for warping/wobbling in the wheel and/or tire.

Are you sure the lug nuts are properly tightened?

Does this happen all the time at those speeds ??

Around here some sections of road are so bad I think the wheels are falling off Till I remember that stretch of road is like this.

It also depends just how your tires are balanced depends on the machine used.

It .is not uncommon to get a vibration in a certain speed range

Bad joint in the drive line

Honestly, if your trick vibrates it sounds like it's working properly!

Seriously though, wouldn't the Carrier Bearing be a good candidate for the culprit?

Thank you for all the suggestions. Will report back on what the cause is. So far the tires have been re balanced and rotated, the wheel lugs are tight, yes it shakes/vibrates all the time at those speeds.
