Hey all. Luck brought me to being a Tacoma owner about two months ago after my Ram decided to set itself on fire on a random Saturday morning. Honestly never thought I would ever own a Tacoma, but the timing was right when I found a sweet deal on a 2012 SR5 4x4. In the past six weeks I have had my hands on the inner works of the Tacoma more than I ever did with the Ram. Yes, I miss the 5.7L v8 Hemi a bit, but I don't really need it honestly.

After researching a bit here on TW, I have quite a few changes I want to make with my setup (don't we all) over the next few years. Early in high school, 25ish years ago, my dad and I rebuilt a 72 CJ5 Jeep which we took on quite a few runs with a local club. Now that I have two sons, I want to be able to give them that experience (not to mention I want to get out in to the great wide open with my Toy lol).

So far (with assistance from write ups on here) I have removed the secondary air filter, added an AEM drop in filter, cleaned the throttle body (noticeable improvement in performance), and opened up the transfer case and front/rear diff to check on the fluid. My list of future mods include upgrade the springs and shocks (only want to go 2-3" max lift), upgrading from the stock 16" tires (again, nothing too outrageous), custom front and rear bumpers (as in, I am going to make them myself), custom bed rack and utility boxes (again, home made), CB radio, rifle/handgun storage in the cab, and likely some additional lights (but nothing crazy like). I've seen a lot of cool looking mods on here, but I want to stick with things that add utility to the truck. Bling is cool, it's just not for me. I'd rather just be in the dirt/rocks/mud all the time.

Anyway, here she is on day 1. 2012 DCLB SR5 4x4, nautical blue, with the minions in the back.

Bad new with the fire... but Congrats on the Tacoma and Welcome!
We love hearing that you had a great childhood memory with your father and the CJ5!
Passing that type of experience to your kids is what its all about!
Thanks for including us, TW, with your build and adventures.

    Cheers!
