Currently I have Cooper LTZ 275/60R20 and 20" KMC Chrome Badlands. My truck was new and I wanted to keep it looking good while I was still paying for it.

Well she has been paid off for a little over 2 years now and I just got back from South Korea and the time has come...

For wheels I am thinking 17x8.5 SRS SR8 Gunmetal

Tire sizes I am looking at are 285/70R17. I want to stay 32.5-33 in height and 10.5-11.5 in width.
Thought about the BFG KM2s, Cooper Discoverer STT Pro, even the Nitto Trail Grappler, but the widths on that tire are too wide and I still feel that they're not a real tacoma looking tire. idk, I just associate the Nitto brand with mall crawler I guess haha.

I have never owned a set of BFGs, but I know they're one of the biggest brands out there.

Just looking for any ideas or recommendations.

    Suspension:
    Full 3" OME Lift
    Full Dakar Leaf Pack
    887 Springs
    All Pro Uniball UCAs
    Cab mount chop

    Thanks TW!

Not too sure if they got the size you'd be looking for, but Toyo Open Country M/T road quiet on the highway and performed very well everywhere else. A little pricey though. Good luck

I thought about the Open Countrys as well.

Just PCS'd out here to California and will be using my truck a good bit offroad now to camp/hike/mountain bike now. So just looking for options.

Something around 32.5-33.1 and 10-11.3 in width

I got your mall crawler here. I just haven't put the sticker on yet to certify it. The only recommendation I can give you is go no less than 18 inch rims.

    HAHA

Guys, I said no more mall crawler.

sgtnewundies, that tire was my first choice, but it being 11"+ wide Im still worried that when flexed or turning about rubbing. Somehow my tires now rub on the drivers side mount a little bit every now and then.
How come no smaller than 18"?

Design aesthetics mostly. You will have more choices in tire selection with the larger rims.

Have to say 4x4Taco09, I don't see anything wrong with the way your truck looks in the photograph. Just beautiful. As always, the answer to your question is; what do plan on doing with your truck? Once you answer that question, and scrap up a pile of money, the rest is relatively easy. Might not hurt to look around in the "Tires and Wheels" section of the forum. Good luck.

Ive been looking at those as well. Im just looking for something thats a good all around tire. Im thinking 255 is the route I'm going to go.

Im also looking at these wheels in 17x8.5, surely that wouldn't be too wide for a 255/80 or 255/75

    Thank you.
Well like I said in the first post, it looks cool but I want to do some trail riding and utilize my truck a lot more now. When I was making payments on it I didn't do too much to it as its a $30k investment and I wanted to take very good care of it. Its been paid off for a while now and as I still take great care of it, I just want to use it for a lot more things now.

I use to hate toolboxes (part of the reason I wanted the longer bed, incase I did add one), well after being with a friend and their vehicle broke down and with NO tools whatsoever, it was time for a toolbox, and I love it. Added the roof rack. Going to add a winch soon. I do a lot more camping, hiking, and mountain biking now as well. Not sure I want a bed rack just yet, but we will see. Also looking to add rock sliders and take off those gimmicky side steps as they are PAPER THIN! Wasn't expecting 16-18 gauge steel.

So I'm looking to do some actual trail riding and street tires and 20's, well thats not very offroad lol.

I feel that, that's what I was looking for. I've put 6000miles of highway driving on the Maxxs and they've been great in dry wet snow and ice. Also offroaded them in Moab and in SoCal and they were superb all-round!

Well it looks like BFG doesn't make/sell the KM anymore? But they have the 255/75R17 marked down a good bit. With the KM2 the closest size is 255/80R17. Looking to run a full size spare so $687 for 5 KMs or $1169 for 5 KM2s. Cooper ST MAXX 255/80R17 for 5 $920. (no tax/shipping on those prices)

255/80R17 has only 2 that I can find. The S/T MAXX and KM2
255/75R17 has more options, BFG KM, Hankook Dynapro RT03, Nitto Trail Grappler, Firestone Destination M/T & Cooper S/T MAXX

I would rather a 33, but Im just not finding as many options. But is the difference between a 32 and 33 that big a change? Ive always had 33s or 35s (91 yota)

Ok, you have got me loving the ST MAXX...

    My current size is 275/60R20
    Diameter 33 (perfect)
    Width 10.83 (perfect)

    I really like the 255/80R17
    Diameter 33.1 (perfect)
Width 10.04 (they don't look narrow in pictures)

Looking through other sizes I came to these other tire sizes.

    285/70R17
Diameter 32.7 (just a tad short)
Width 11.22 (just a tad wide)

    275/70R18
    Diameter 33.2 (nice)
    Width 10.83 (perfect)

But I can't run the wheels that I first chose, yes there thousands of wheels out there. But if I plan on doing some actual wheeling and trail riding, 17s seem to be a better option. Not saying it isn't possible with an 18, just more sidewall for when I want to run lower pressure for rocks and such with a 17
