How much wider is the gen 2 Tacoma compared to gen 1? Wikipedia gives two different widths, which I assume is because they counting different rear-view mirror types. I am just wanting to know how much more room the gen 2 has in the interior than the gen 1. Anyone know?

I haven't measured, but I believe the 2nd gen is 4 inches wider overall (outside), and I'm guessing much of that translates to interior.

Sort of hard to get a common reference point for this measurement.

Edumunds.com typically has a collection of specs for year models, you might find what you want there.

Or you could measure a couple of dimensions in a 1st gen and ask someone to measure same in a 2nd gen.

But I can tell you the 2nd gen is bigger.

My '98 Sonoma was fairly comfy, but felt 'snug' compared to my '13 Tacoma.
