    Hi Folks,

I ran BFG A/T KOs on my lifted 2002 2wd Tacoma and loved those tires. Never had major issues and was able to run them without any air pressure and they maintained there shape (I think this might have been due to my truck not weighing anything). Well I have moved to a 2014 Prerunner DCSB and have been taking my truck camping a lot and I'm not impressed with the Dunlop AT20s. I had a large rock slice a 10mm hole in the center of my tread last weekend, not fun to change out on the trail. So here is my question. Being a disabled guy I would like to buy another set of BFGs but they are insanely priced for me. It can be hard for me to change out a flat on the trail and I would like a tire that is reliable but priced a bit cheaper, my income isn't like it once was. Recommendations?

Secondly, after reading on the forums it looks like I can fit 265/70/R16 without issue on my truck. I compared the 245/75/R15 and they are basically the same height just and inch wider. My door jam sticker says 245/75/R16 and nothing about the larger tire. By the way I am running TRD off road rims, I don't think that matters in terms of offset.

As a side note, I don't plan on lifting my truck until my 7 year warranty has expired. Plus my truck is under powered anyways, so I don't see the benefit of anything larger than 265/70/R16s.

    Thanks for the help,

You can fit a 265/75r16 without a lift and without issues. As far as which tire...depends on the trail. Will at's work or will you need mud grips? Cooper makes a good mud tire in the stt pro, but their all terrains lean a little to close to the road tire/grocery gitter for my liking. My next set will probably be some general at2's. They look like bfg at's but should run you about $150 cheaper on a set. Good luck!

I have General AT2's. Great tires. I have E range on my 2500HD. Rides well for a 3/4 ton.

I have a set of wrangler duratrax 265/75/16r on my tacoma. As of right now, wouldn't trade them for anything. Might be a bit pricy but you get lots out do it and from other friends riding these they last a long time, without being as hard as a hockey puck as wel.

I've been running BFG commercial traction in 235/85/16, and love them. Tread depth of the mud terrain, but with more sipes like an all terrain. Load range E, they are stiff and burly, also come in 265/75/16 if you don't fancy pizza cutters.
