    Hello.

New to this site and have a question regarding a weight distribution hitch.

Planning on towing a 19' travel trailer weighing less than 5000 lbs loaded, with a tongue weight of about 450 lbs.

If I had sway bars on a weight distribution hitch that were rated at 1000 lbs (or more) and up to 10,000 + towing capacity, would there be any issues? If my setup weight is a lot less, will that be a problem?

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and help!

    Have a great day!

I used an Equalizer 10k on a 4500# trailer and it worked great

I've never used a weight distribution hitch, but from what I understand of them, you can set the preload on the bars to match your load.

I was told that it stiffens up the rear and causes the trailer to bounce more with the heavier rated bars. Not sure how comfortable the ride is if you use the heavy bars
