Toyota Stereo Help

Hello everyone, I have a 2012 Tacoma Double Cab, the XM went out Sunday and I checked it again today and every channel says unauthorized ch. and the radio goes back to the preview ch and the sound comes and goes. Someone from XM tried to reboot but still the same she says the module is going bad in the radio and that I need to take it to the dealer and let them update the chip so the radio will receive the signal. Has anyone ever heard of this happening or am I going to have to replace the radio if I want XM. Thanks for the help.

 

Is it still under warranty? I would at least call the dealer's service dept to see if it's something they've heard about if it's not under warranty.

 

Nope the warranty is up, talked to a service advisor at the dealer and they said this was pretty common. I guess I will find out Friday.

 

Hopefully they don't charge you too much.
