Hey guys just wondering if I could throw on a 285 on the spare tire and if it would rub on the ucas in the case that I actually use it? Anyone know if its the right offset/backspacing? I got the LR ucas with icons set at about 3 inches. Did the cmc and cutting already.

On an OEM rim, it will rub on the front knuckles if no spacer/adapter is used. Will also rub on the wheel well plastic, even if you get the spacers/adapters. My 265 70 R17 tires rub even after I did some trimming at the corners.

I have the all pro rear bumper so my experience may differ depending on your setup. It will fit but you will need to do some mods back there. I had to bang the two arms open wider, cut off the last exhaust hangar (wasn't using it anyways), and relocate the trailer plug in. The tire rubs on the front for me, but I've got aftermarket wheels on the four that I use everyday. I can't answer the rubbing question if you're using spacers

thanks for the info, I'll throw on the spare wheel and guesstimate how much it'll rub with the wider tire. Also gonna try find an fj steelie or something similar on craigslist.

I'd get a fifth of whatever wheel you are running on the truck. The spare is meant for no wider than a 265. The 285 may be unusable when you need it most. Yes, it will fit in the stock spare location, but will rub terribly when you try to use it - unless you are running 285s on your truck with spacers and stock wheels.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I ended up buying a spare rim with the same offset as what I'm running and a 285 to hang under the truck. Steels will not work with the lift. Plus it nice having a full size spare.

I wouldn't say unusable.... I've been in the middle of nowhere and had to wheel out using the spare. It rubs, but works in a pinch. 5 matching wheels is the best option if you got the cheddar, I just wanted to address the question as you asked it.

Get a 255 tire, you can find one close enough to the 285 size to use in an emergency. It also will not hang down low in the stock location, but the frame tabs holding it in place will need to be modified.
