I'm from Redondo Beach, and me and my buddy were wanting to take a trip to a trail in 2 weeks, we are interested in trails that can prove to be a little difficult for my 2wd tacoma, no problem for him in his 4x4 silverado. we are also wondering if there is calming along these trails so that we can pull over and amp for the night... not looking to drive more than 3 hours for a trail, any help is greatly appreciated, thank you tacomaworld:D

Try the indian truck trial off Corona, you can't camp there but its a fun day trip for a 2wd pre runner.
I fid it over the summer in my 04 pre runner with a dirt bike. One thing to note is that if you happen to cross paths withsomeone, passing is a bitch unless you hapoen to be next to a turn out

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Indian truck trail is definitely a good one. I started in Silverado (closed now after fires awhile back) and ended up in Elsinore. You can start in Elsinore though still.

Just bear in mind if/when you meet someone nose to nose on the trail the guy going down hill has right of way.

So many scrub ass drivers out there forget that.

Always easier to roll backwards downhill than drive backwards up it. Yknow?

NOT TRUE! By law, the vehicle going UPHILL has the right of way. It's easier to control a vehicle backing up than to fight gravity backing down.

    CA Right of Way Rules
    On Mountain Roads

When two vehicles meet on a steep road where neither vehicle can pass, the vehicle facing downhill must yield the right-of-way by backing up until the vehicle going uphill can pass. The vehicle facing downhill has the greater amount of control when backing up the hill.

Conditions will always dictate what actually happens in any situation, and common sense trumps the law. But if I'm heading down a fire road and traffic is coming up, it's on me to back up, all other things being equal. If, on the other hand, I'm heading up that same road and meet downhill traffic, and I have a convenient pull-out 100 feet back, I will yield the right of way.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-track_road while you're correct sense would dictate it's a lot easier to ride the brakes down than to be able to see up and out while backing up hill.

To each his own, but my experience has been the opposite.
