    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
After reading all that I could find on here on this gearing subject, I want to find some first-hand info on this exact combo. I feel relatively certain that 4.88s are what I should get with the auto trans, but want to make sure before spending all that money. Little truck needs more "grunt" but I drive the highway a decent amount at 70-75mph, so I don't want to be turning crazy high RPMs.
    Any first-hand knowledge out there??
    Thanks

Don't have this exact combo but think about it: the auto has a .71 overdrive, the 5-speed trucks have a .81 overdrive. An auto with 285s and 4.88s still turns less RPMs in overdrive than a stock 5-speed (4.10s and 30.5" tires).

70mph will only be 2500rpms. 85mph will only be 3k. Neither of which I would find unacceptable.

I say do it. DON'T FEAR THE GEAR.

    I have the 2.7 with auto trans. I currently run 285-75-16's w/ 5.29's and turn 2750 rpm's @ 70mph.
It does well... still has some pull to it.

    I had 4.88's w/ 265-75-16's prior, same results only 2700 rpm's @ 70mph.

    Hope this helps you.

Hey MK! I bought my wheels and tires from you! Love 'em!

I was wondering how much it was going to run you for your re-gear. I wanna do 4.88's myself. I got quoted locally some outrageous price.

It's about $1700 for ECGS to do all the work, if I take it to them. It's pretty expensive.
Glad you are liking the wheels/tires.

^^ Wow, for that price, order a complete 3rd w/ ARB locker from Marlin Crawler.
    Just saying.

    Good luck.

But I have to do front and back.
That would be $1600 for the front and $1750 for the rear...and I would still have to put them in!

Ahh... my bad. I just noticed you were 4x4.

So the $1700.00 you mentioned, that was for both ends with labor?

Hmm, for parts & labor, that isn't a screaming deal but doable in my book if there is a warranty on their work.
