flap in the front wheel wells

There is a flap in the front wheel wells, that I'm assuming is to protect the engine compartment from debris kicked up by the tires. How important is this flap, what is it actually called and where can I find another? I've attached a picture of what I am talking about. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

 

Mine flopped off a long time ago. Never bothered to replace them. Never had a issue with it.

 

Doesnt look like you need a new one so much, just another clip to hold it in place.

 

I'm missing one too. I was thinking of just making one out of an old mudflap or something but I'm really, really lazy. In the long run I suppose it's good to have it.

 

I'd just go to the plumbing section of your hardware store and buy 1/16th" rubber gasket material and make a new one

 

After installing a 1" BL... all my engine bay liners came up short...

so I got some Pond Liner from Home Depot... and made my own

a hole punch and a block of hardwood comes in handy...
I made my own hole punch from a brass fitting I had laying around

Probably going to get these myself. In need of new ones. One of my old ones is in such bad shape that I probably can't trace it.

I too used pond liner. Surprisingly simple to do. And WAY cheaper than oem pieces. Dealer quoted $50 each piece!

 

you found pond liner tough enough for the job? never handled any before

 

can pick up the retainers at any parts store. i sell them at carquest/advanced auto parts for like 20 cents a retainer.

 

Yup, pond liner or anything rubber. I made mine out of left over roofing rubber

 

Damn great idea, I guess I'll be making my own taco "turkish mud flaps" this weekend as well . . .
