Is this supposed to be 1/4 or 1/5 of a tank?

Not sure if I just never let my truck run empty, but I've never seen a low gas light on my 97 2.4l automatic. I don't remember seeing a bulb for one when i replaced the dash lights with LEDs.. can anyone confirm this?

You do know the fuel pumps like to be in the liquid not in the air above the fuel level.

I had a friend on his 4th fuel pump in a year He just loved to drive around below 1/4 and very rarely put more the $10.00 worth of gas in.

I for the most get about 10 to 11 mpg so put my 10 gallons in ever 100 miles or so and keep it filled

This. I get more miles in the upper half of the tank than I do in the lower. As someone pointed out above, once I get down to that last 1/4 mark, I can get about 20 or 30 miles before it hits the E mark. From the F mark to the 3/4 mark and 3/4 mark to the 1/2 mark I get about 85-100 miles, respectively.

I've wondered this myself a handful of times. This seems like the most plausible answer.

My gas tank gauge goes like this:

Creep past the top line really slowly, HAUL ASS past the 3/4 mark till it hits the middle line. Creep past the middle line, HAUL ASS to the bottom line.

I get 300 miles on a tank, when I get to that mark I know I have 75 miles left. Mine is for the most part accurate. Ask me how I know lol FYI, Mine is a column shift automatic too.
