Shouldn't be too hard to make a flat sheet, just need some material and a grinder. Maybe cardboard for a template if you're a real fancy lad.

We welded the broke /cracked POS tailgate this afternoon on the taco. Took a piece of angle iron I had & cut to length of tailgate ( 1/2 inch short on each end / just inside the bolt head on top of each end. My friend spot welded it on the back side and of tailgate. And welded it on the top on each end next to bolt heads. I had a piece of flat steel I had put in there years ago behind the composite tailgate inside shield. Might put it back in when I put it back together tomorrow. The angle made it so much stronger and welding the crack up helped as well. Took the solder gun and melted the tabs off the plastic that goes on the edge so it will fit flat...Might put a couple pop rivets in it tomorrow. All in all a "cheap red necka fix" and priced right !! FREE!!

And I helped my friend install a "Ranch Hand Brush Guard" on his dodge ( heavy as heck )--that I found it for him on craigslist yesterday !! So great afternoon working on trucks!! ;)
