If Toyota could find a way to put a 26+ gallon fuel tank in the Tacoma that might stop the cry's for a diesel. At least range-wise it would. 21 gallons when you're loaded to capacity, that's not enough fuel. Slap a small trailer on and loaded to capacity the effective range is about 220 miles. I guess a larger fuel tank was 23rd on Sweers list, just below towing.

The way everything is engineered to the nth degree, it's hard to imagine that the added weight, placed where it is wouldn't require some structural change that Toyota in their wisdom would not think it's worth the investment. Sort of, "why we don't have a diesel" mentality they used for that decision, why we have a C channel frame and why we don't have rear disc brakes. Their explanations are beginning to sound like the "Texas Side Step", "now you see me now you don't. "
They obviously build great trucks, but when box frames, rear discs and bigger tanks appear on shorter SUVs and are all extolled for their benefits, and the Taco is long enough for two 25 gallon tanks, it just makes you wonder.

Most SUV's now have unibody architecture. Guess the Tacoma should too :)

I think everyone here that gets over butthurt compares the Tacoma to the 4Runner. Problem is that the 4Runner isn't the same price as the Tacoma. There is probably a reason for it being more money.

I do get the problems people have with the frame, rear brakes, and lack of Diesel. Honestly, they make fair arguments. At the end of the day though Tacoma frames aren't buckling offroad, the rear brakes seem to last a long time, the rears don't seem to be overwhelmed compared to similar sized trucks, and the Diesel option is more of a personal preference than anything else.

Again, everyone is blowing little things way out of proportion. I can't wait till the 2016 has been out a few years and the whole shit show dies down.

I am including land cruiser and Sequoia with no attention to price. Just realize that the Taco is a low end vehicle and the a large to medium one that does not share a body/ frame with Lexus. Is frame flex good or not....is a drum brake better for off roading or not ? Cause you get different stories from different sellers.
Bear in mind the C channel is not from the bed back but includes most of the passenger compartment of the double cab. Just a reason not to add too much weight in the form
    Of a bigger tank/

I know why I replaced my Toyota ladder frame Suv with a taco...it was cheaper. Reallyand you get what you pay for.

Stay off the forums...and there is no shit show to watch. ;) Out in the rest of the world most people don't care, Hell many don't even know what a Tacoma is.

Which I should probably take my own advice...

Well, ten years from now when the ancient 2016 Taco still has that old technology......gears and internal combustion engine and everyone else has a CVT hybrid.....the taco will go to disk brakes when they find everyone else when back to drums
