Hello. Haven't been on here in a while!

I recently decided that I want to get some new rims and tires for my 2.7 access cab.
My main concern is how I would like to bump the rim size up to 17 or 18s but I would probably at least need a 2 inch leveling kit. If I were to stick 18s on the truck with some Dyna-pro mud terrains would it still go down the interstate okay with stock gearing? It is the 5 speed and I pull jet skis/snowmobiles with it often. Just need some advice on what to do, and what you guys that have done this before suggest. Thanks!!

You don't need the raise it up or worry about the speedometer/odometer reading wrong if the overall tire diameter stays the same, say with 60-series on 18s or 65-series on 17s. This assumes the same stock width, 265 or whatever--not as familiar with 2nd gen sizes.

Re: mud or off-road tread ... so is the highway travel limited or are you just willing to put up with everything that's not ideal when not using highway tires ... ?

I will probably go with more of an all terrain... but I want to put larger tires under it so that's why I am wondering about clearance and gearing

If you want larger tires stay with 17s and go with no larger than 265/70R17. Weight is going to be your enemy. The lighter the better. So look for P or C load. Larger E-load MT tires are really going to affect a 2.7 towing.

Is it a 3in lift going to slow me down even more would you say?

You'll notice a small mpg drop with the lift but you likely won't feel it. You can REALLY feel heavier tires though.

Okay... So don't go over 265 70s.... And keep it light. I'll keep these numbers in my head

You may also want to consider 235/80/17 as an alternate size. They're referred to as pizza cutters because they're tall and narrow and they destroy in the snow.

Lift has little to do with anything power wise, other than slightly more frontal area. But for effective purposes the only significant factors are tire size and weight.

That said I'd look to 2" instead of 3". 3" will have a poor ride, bad CV angles causing excessive wear, require new UCAs ($400+) to get an alignment, very little suspension droop, ect. 2" was a factory lift option on the pro and has no issues.

Not to mention, they look very military and super badass.

Alright I'll defiantly look at the 2 in. I can't imagine the look is much different than the 3in. As for the more narrow tires.... I was thinking the wider the better, with a little off set. But I'll take a look at the 235s
