    Thats's good to know!

I'm kind of drawn to Morton, cause they seem to know the process and the "hoops" necessary to build these types of homes, since that is part of their business. But I haven't talked to them yet and who knows, since they are a one-stop shop they're prices might be inflated a little. Thanks for the info!

For those that have been following this, I will be going to Morton Building sales office to talk about plans and how much my money gets me as far as building a home with them. Reading online, pole barn homes are supposed to be cheaper to build, but with this company being a one-stop shop, the prices may be inflated.

Ill include pics, plans and other goods they give me....stay tuned!

So i went and talked to Morton and basically they are just as expensive as a normal built home, IF you wanted turn-key (meaning you did none of the work). However if you wanted a simple 'ranch-style' home it would be significantly cheaper. For a 2,000-2,500 sq-ft, single level building, including cement slab, insulation and ready to finish would be around $60-80K.

But if you wanted multiple levels, meaning a basement, then it starts to get expensive. On another note, they warned us that it is very difficult to get financing (mortgage) to build this type of home, cause there are not enough comparable. Overall i was impressed with Morton and if I had more money to put down and didn't need the a certain floor plan than I would go with them and finish off the house myself inside one of their buildings. This is a good example of their capabilities and pricing:

I can have a pole barn built for $10.00 per sq ft. Includes slab and steel trusses and metal roofing. Add metal on frame walls and the cost is $15.00 per sq ft.

There you go! I think Morton has inflated prices for the name and it being a one-stop shop....who knows, probably not going to go the pole barn route.
