I just purchased a 2011 Access Cab 4X4 2.7L 5 speed. It is a base model. When I push the traction control button nothing happens. If I hold it for 5 seconds nothing happens. And if I put it in 4Lo no trac off lights or anything comes on. Are the base models not equipped with traction control? What could cause this?

In 2wd, a short press should change a couple of lights on the dashboard. Long press disable it.
In 4wd-hi, short press does nothing, long press turns it off (light on the dashboard).
In 4wd-lo, its disabled, no presses do anything, light indicates that it is off.

If it isn't behaving like this, then it could have been messed with, or button broken.

There are actually two LEDs on the dashboard that come on and off based on the system status.
One is the LSD light, the other is the traction control off light.

Good point about them coming on briefly when you turn on the ignition.

Mine don't light up when I start the vehicle, but the button itself lights up when I have the lights on. I'm going to take it back to the dealership that I bought it from next week. I pulled he lower dash and everything seemed to be hooked up as it should.
