All of the HVAC guys out there knows what mastic tape is. You better be sure you want it taped up before you commit! I'm just curious if dynamat, or the like, is anything similar to mastic tape. seems like it is at first glance.

A quick google search shows mastic tape is made of Ethylene Propylene Rubber, whereas products like Dynamat Xtreme and RAAMmat are made of Butyl rubber. Both have similar thickness, 60 butyl vs 65 EP. Butyl is widely used in the construction of subwoofer surrounds. Doesn't seem like there's much difference other than having to spend a lot more time cutting the tape and some additional weight due to thickness of the tape.

Kinda what I was thinking. I can get the tape for a good bit less than the dynamat. Might give it a try one day.

I just ordered a bulk 36 sq. ft. pack of Dynamat Xtreme on Amazon for $150. Use what all the pros use....there is a reason almost all high end shops use Dynamat products. Just my .02 though.

Sorry, no disrespect meant on that. I'm sure your product works great! I have had quite a bit of success with Dynamat in the past. Just based on my experiences!

I bought the same amount of RAAMmat for $120 shipped. Very comparable products. I've used Dynamat Xtreme and it's a good product. It's a bit less messy, but the cost is a bit higher.

What about SecondSkin audio? I have seen a few discounts posted around the holidays, 25% off if I remember correctly. Also, what would you recommend to reduce the noise of panels squeaking or rubbing against each other? Ya know, that subtle "eee eee eee" as your drive.
