Toyota Trifold Bed Cover back ordered in Canada

I purchased a 2015 Tacoma recently and ordered and paid for a Trifold cover. They said it would take a couple of days. After a week I called and they said it was not there yet. That was all the Sales Manager would say. I did some digging and found there are actually 17 back ordered in Toronto, and 8 in Vancouver which they will not send to Ontario for some reason. I checked with the parts manager at the dealer and they told me he talked to Head Office and there is a supply issue with the manufacturer.
My brother had one installed 2 weeks ago and he seemed to have no issue. I just realized he has the shorter bed in his Access Cab model. I really don't know if the OEM unit is better or worse that some of the aftermarket units.
If you have any insight into this issue I would appreciate any feedback, before I make a decision as to whether to wait or go with the aftermarket. Apparently the Manager is willing to do go to a local Trucks N stuff and have one installed.

 

mine was installed before delivery on the 22nd - has a bunch of Toyota stickers on it but feels more like its Toyota approved supplier than Toyota part itself - If you can find a 3rd party one you are happy with I would go for that

 

Was yours the Toyota model Tri Fold they sell as an accessory? Mine was supposed to be delivered with it until they found out they are back ordered. I paid for mine in advance.

I am not sure about any back ordering issue.

However, in my opinion I would ditch the stealership tonneau and buy aftermarket. You will save a buttload of money. I got quoted about $1300 canadian for the tri fold tonneau for my 2015 from the dealer. Mother eff that. Got a quote for $490 installed for an extang trifecta from a local parts shop.

 

Well I just got an email from the parts girl at the dealership and my tonneau is in. Unfortunately I am on vacation so I won't be able to get it installed. I guess the squeaky wheel gets the oil. I finally called Toyota head office and complained. In a week I had one.

 

I've been waiting for my raptor wheels - should be able to pick mine up tomorrow
