    Hey guys,

Obviously by my post count I'm very very new here. I am currently overseas so I can't test drive a 2016 until I get home in a few weeks to verify this is in fact the truck I want...though from my research I have a good suspicion I will like it. I currently have a 2014 Ram (1500 CC Sport 4x4 5.7l 3.92 gears w/LSD) with a few power mods, an Icon stage 4 suspension, and 275/65R20 all terrain tires. While the Ram is awesome and I would surely miss the 450-460 hp it makes in current form, there are too many more modification I need to make for it to be up to my off road wants and desires/capabilities. Plus it's dimensions are larger than I would prefer.

I have always liked Toyota, but have never pulled the trigger on one of their SUVs/trucks before. If I end up getting a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road, I plan to make it more capable overall without dramatically hurting any aspect of its stock peformance...i.e. making it extra slow by bogging down the V6 with super heavy wheels/tires, etc. I haven't had a whole lot of time to look through the forum yet, and I'm sure there is a wealth of information I will be able to browse through when I get a little more free time. Until then, below is a rough plan of what I would likely do should I get the new Taco:

    - Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 4 suspension
    - Rocky Road super sliders (whenever they come out for the 2016)
    - 275/65R18 GY Duratracs (116S SL - only 45lbs each)
    - Enkei ST6 wheels in Gunmetal – 18x8.5 +10mm 6x139.7 (108.5mm bore diameter) - does this equate to 4.65” backspacing? - I don't know the weight for these but they should be relatively light
    - Nice thick skid plates when I find a company that makes them
    - Full debadging and tint
    - Am I missing anything major from this list?

I welcome your comments and experiences that would help me make the right parts choices (once again provided I love the 2016 after a test drive) Thanks in advance.

    - Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 4 suspension with OME Dakars and Total Chaos UCAs
    - Allpro Ubolt flip kit
    - Pelfreybilt sliders (whenever they come out for the 2016)
    - 255/80/17 CooperMaxx ST
    - Level 8 MK6 17" 0 offset or Konig 6 shooters
    - Pelfreybilt skid plates
    - Full debadging and tint

    Buy once, cry once.

Go for Icon Stage 3 if you want to save some cash and aren't desert running. You probably don't need the remote reservoirs. I don't desert run, but I have lots of speed bumps at the malls. o_O

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be looking up your suggestions. A quick look at the Pelfreybilt site got me excited. Their bumpers look fantastic.

Pelfreybilt is the best you can get. If you want a rear bumper, get the high clearance. You WILL 100% regret getting a normal one that doesn't require cutting. Trust me and many others here. I went with the High Clearance first. Cutting is scary the first time, but just do it.

What about the Lola 2.0 suspension with upgraded leaf packs by AllPro? It looks very similar to the Icon components except a little less expensive with full spring packs and upgraded brake lines. The extra 3" in the back would certainly help the departure angle.

I can't speak to that, so I won't comment. From skimming around here, Fox is a popular choice. I do know that a lot of the guys here like Old Man Emus, but some upgrade to Icons/Kings later. Suspension is one of the most vital components on your truck, don't skimp. You should contact @Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc They did me right.
