I recently bought a 2006 DC Prerunner with a LOT of miles on it... just turned 200k and some people think I'm crazy for buying something with so many miles. But, it seems the previous owner took good care of the truck and it's in better shape than most that I looked at with lower miles (and higher price tags). I typically do my own maintenance and I plan to flush/change all the fluids ASAP and just go through everything. Probably throw in a K&N filter and maybe new plugs and wires. I just hope it will live up to the reputation and be dependable for several more years.

By the way, this forum is awesome. I've been lurking on here since before I bought the truck and it was part of the deciding factor.

It's nothing special right now. Completely stock except nerf bars and a toolbox, both of which I'll be getting rid of. I'll be sure to post up some pictures once I start modding though (or at least once she gets a good coat of wax).

    Welcome to TW!

Also, don't throw in a K&N air filter. They're bad mojo.

Just because it is stock does not mean no pics are necessary/wanted.

There's a couple of threads on this.
Based on mine and plenty of others experience's, they let in a little too much air. And they end up being dirtier on the wrong side of the filter. They might be fine for engines in the short term, but if you wanna keep your engine clean, lets not put so much dirt in it.

However, believe what you want. This is just my experience (and a couple of others on here too). Also, I'm sure if you live in a city and don't OffRoad, the K&N filters are fine. There's not much dust in a crowded city compared to in the desert where I live.

Not arguing, just curious. never hear that on the tacoma before. I did on a subaru I have. I do have one for the truck, but i'm not defending it and certainly have a pile of other things which sounded like a good idea. hah! I'll look at it I'm more depth. Thanks!!

Thanks for the input on the filter. I never had a problem with them on any other vehicles but I guess I'll have to do some research before just throwing one in there. Heres a quick picture I took as we were pulling out of the guy's driveway after I checked out the truck for the first time.
