I hear a pump running in the garage

I walked out in the garage last night and I could hear a what sounds like a pump running in the rear of my 2014 tacoma. When I turned the key to the on position it stopped. and ideas? I've heard it before. Or maybe I'm just going crazy.

 

You may be going crazy, but it's not because of this

The sound is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Just the emissions system running a pressure test on the fuel system. It happens about 5 hours after the truck has been parked. Freaked me out the first time I heard it when I walked out into the garage at night too.

 

GrayBuzzard is completely correct. There is nothing to worry about. I had the same thing occur on my '15, and I called the dealership. I was told there is an electric pump on the gas tank vent system, and as GrayBuzzard states it cycles on its own occasionally. I was told it will indeed quit if you turn the key to the on position.
