How difficult should it be for a dealer to obtain build and expected delivery dates on an allocated truck? Dealer telling me the truck has been built for the last two weeks but has not yet been able to obtain a build date and keeps saying a month or so before delivery. Do they really have no idea or is he stalling?

When the dealer FINDs an actual truck in the que in their region, they can give an approximate date of arrival. If the truck has not been built or allocated they cannot give a date, Or he may have to trade with another dealer to get your truck. Not too many dealers are willing to give up stock.

Sound slike in your case, dealer cannot find a truck in their region you specified, but they don't want to lose the possible sale..

My salesperson has been pretty informative with me. She keeps me in constant contact. If they work closely with the inventory manager they are usually easier to get information from. I Allocated my truck September 1st, at port for the last week and a half, received a Vin on 9/21/2015, they said to expect the truck by Wednesday. I am trying not to get my hopes up.

If you have a truck, you should have a VIN and a build date.

If you have nothing of those three, you likely have nothing.

I picked the truck from three they had on the list of vehicles that they said were "on the way" a few weeks ago. But the VIN appears to be a temporary VIN as it has a letter in the last group of digits.

My truck had a VIN before it was actually built, IIRC. It certainly had one after it was built.

Yeah I am exactly trying not to go into that mode, but on Wednesday they will be bombarded by me contacting them to see if it has arrived.

Pretty much what the others have said...

    My experience, FWIW:

9/10 ORDERED: TRD OR 4WD ACSB V6 AT/Towing/All-weather Mats Inferno
    MSRP less $1K

I wasted the 3 previous weeks with FL dealers from Tallahassee to Fort Walton before connecting with Toyota of Dothan (AL)--75 miles away

9/10 Sales manager located a truck to-be-allocated to NC dealership; swapped allocation; and, projected October 19 delivery
9/26/15 Received my VIN this morning and I'm now told to expect delivery on or (<2 days) before October 6 :bananadance:

Good for you..I got my VIN a few days ago and it still will be here Oct 14. I am expecting it sooner though as it is marked sold.

Earlier communication with Sales Mgr was to expect a final VIN 6-10 days out from shipment to port; I think that was as it was rolling down or off the assembly line. That's consistent with their revised delivery date.

With a complete (i.e., not placeholder) VIN, you might see yours sooner. We can hope...

just remember, a valid vin is denoted by a numbers in the last 6 positions in the vin, if there is an alpha characters in the last 6 positions, its a placeholder vin.

Seems kind of late. Mine was built around the 16th and is supposed to be in some time around today.

My thought too. Month and a half between build and delivery seems long.
